​​Dr. Mark Kunihira has been in practice for over a decade working with children and adults to promote dental health. He is always in search of the latest technology and research, ensuring that each of his patients get the best treatments that modern dentistry has to offer.

Dr. Mark first had his inspiration to enter the field of dentistry as a teenager. Growing up in a dental family, he knew at an early age that dentistry would be his calling. His earliest experiences in dentistry started with dental assisting at his father’s practice during his high school years. He enjoyed working with his father and saw how he was able to help his patients with their oral health and overall well-being.

His experiences as an assistant further reinforced his desire to become a dentist. He was accepted to dental school in the summer of 2000. Dr. Mark graduated with a D.D.S. degree from Loma Linda University School of Dentistry in 2004. After practicing for a year as a general dentist in Lake Arrowhead, he continued his studies in dentistry and completed his residency in Advanced Periodontics at Loma Linda University School of Dentistry in June of 2008.

He joined his father’s practices in Upland and San Bernardino, CA during the summer of 2008 and is now working in several locations in southern California. Dr. Mark is trained in all aspects of periodontal therapy including LANAP laser surgery, bone regeneration, implants, and periodontal plastic surgery.

When he is not practicing dentistry, Dr. Mark enjoys spending time with his wife, Stephanie and their four kids, Katelin, Trinity, Joshua and Leah. Their activities together center around the outdoors and being in nature. They enjoy fishing, snowboarding, skiing, snowshoeing, camping and hiking.

Dr. Daniel Newbold graduated from Loma Linda University School of Dentistry in 1982 with honors in Periodontics and Endodontics. For the next eight years, Dr. Newbold worked for the US Indian Health Service. He received the Outstanding Public Health Service Award and achieved the rank of Lieutenant Commander. In 1990, Dr. Newbold returned to Loma Linda University, where he completed his residency in Periodontics with honors.

Dr. Newbold joined the Inland Perio Practice in 1992 and became a partner in 1995. While teaching part-time at Loma Linda University School of Dentistry, Dr. Newbold taught two of his sons-in-law and one of his daughters! Dr. Newbold and his wife, Melodee, have three daughters (one dentist and two physicians) and are enjoying their four grandchildren. They all pursue a very active lifestyle in sports of all kinds with hiking, surfing, snow skiing, mountain biking, beach volleyball and golf. Dr. Newbold also assists his wife in a significant ongoing cancer research project.

Thaer Alqadoumi, D.D.S., M.S. graduated from the University of Jordan in 2012 earning his first D.D.S. degree. Doctor Alqadoumi continued his dental education in the United States where he attended Loma Linda University in California. In 2016 Dr. Alqadoumi received his second D.D.S. degree and continued his post-graduate training at Loma Linda University, where he received his M.S. degree in Periodontics & implant surgery.

Doctor Alqadoumi is an Assistant professor at Loma Linda University, in the Advanced Periodontics and Implant Surgery clinics. He is also a member of the American Academy of Periodontology, Academy of Osseointegration, California Society of Periodontists, American Dental Association, California Dental Association, American Academy of Implant Dentistry, and the Western society of Periodontists.

Outside of dentistry Dr. Alqadoumi enjoys watching sports, playing soccer, traveling, and spending time with his family.

Dr. Kunihira was born in St. Helena, California, and raised in the Bay area, south of San Francisco. After completion of an undergraduate college education at La Sierra University in 1970, he entered Loma Linda University, School of Dentistry, and graduated with a DDS degree in 1974. At his graduation, he was awarded the Loma Linda University Periodontology Award, the American Academy of Periodontology Award, and inducted into Omicron Kappa Upsilon, the national honor society in dentistry.

Dr. Kunihira volunteered for overseas mission work in Okinawa, Japan for a 4 year period. This was followed by his periodontal residency and return to Loma Linda University.

Dr. Kunihira has the unique privilege of having both of his children pursuing careers in the dental field. Angie, his daughter, is a dental hygienist. Mark Kunihira joined the group as a periodontist in 2008. Dr. Kunihira and his wife, Linda, enjoy pursuing an active lifestyle with snow skiing and snowshoeing in the winter as well as off-roading on quads and side-by-sides, mountain biking, hiking, and canoeing during the summer months. He also has a great passion for photography.

Currently, Dr. Kunihira is working less in the practice, having turned the reins of responsibility to Dr. Mark Kunihira and teaching more in the residency training program at Loma Linda University School of Dentistry.

Dr. Caitlyn Affrunti is a Board-Certified Periodontist originally from Redmond, WA. Her love for softball enabled her to play at the Division I collegiate level and earn a Bachelor of Science degree from Fairfield University. From Connecticut she continued her education in Omaha, NE where she received her Doctor of Dental Surgery Degree from Creighton University and fell in love with periodontics. Doctor Affrunti followed her passion for periodontics at Loma Linda University, where she received her master’s degree and published her master’s thesis in the International Journal of Periodontics and Restorative Dentistry.

Dr. Affrunti’s philosophy is to treat and serve her patients with compassion and care and set the standard of excellence in the field of dentistry. She is well-trained in all aspects of periodontics and implantology.

Outside of dentistry, Dr. Affrunti enjoys spending quality time with her husband and family. They love to travel, scuba dive, and live an active lifestyle.
